Disneyland’s opening date of April 30 has been eagerly awaited by many on the West Coast. But now Disney has confirmed that while out-of-state visitors are allowed into California, they will not be able to visit Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure.
A DisneyParks Blog post confirmed that proof of California residency must be provided along with park ticket AND reservation for guests to enter the parks.

So, after more than a year with its gates closed, what can Californian guests expect from Disneyland?
Capacity will be limited to 25%, masks are mandatory and social distancing is required. Just like its sister park in Orlando, all parades, fireworks, and hugs with beloved characters will be banned.
There were even a rumor that screaming on rides would be banned which ran so rampant that the California Attractions and Parks association had to put out a statement saying “At no point has CAPA recommended limiting or prohibiting yelling or screaming on amusement park rides as a way to mitigate transmission of COVID-19.”
Be sure to download the Disneyland App before you go, especially if visiting Star Wars: Galaxy Edge, specifically if you’d like to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance as you will need to join a virtual queue, only available with the app.
What about non-Californians vacationing in the state? Sorry, no park entry, but they can visit Downtown Disney which has been open since the summer of 2020. Prepare for crowds though.
One security guard estimated that he’s seen around 40,000 visitors a day come through his stationed entrance into the Disney-fied outdoor mall.
On a recent sunny weekend day the line at the World of Disney gift shop consistently stretched 80-people deep. One of the store’s associates described it as a slow day with it not being uncommon for guests to line up for hours just to get into the shopping mall. Hopefully with the Cali residents bombarding the parks this weekend, the extreme line-ups will settle at Downtown Disney for the non-resident Disney lovers.
