Getting back to dawn, one of the best ways to experience this is on a hot air balloon ride in Arenal. Arise early to head to the launch site, where your pilot will inflate the balloon shortly before dawn. Then climb on board and float above the rainforest, gazing at the trees, volcanoes and pineapple plantations passing below. As the sun begins to paint the sky, sip mimosas together.
Bear in mind that your transfer will depart at around 4 am from La Fortuna, to ensure the best view of the sunrise. Meanwhile, this is the time when Costa Rica’s winds are usually the calmest, making it the safest and most comfortable ride in the sky.
