The Disney Wish’s long awaited first cruise is finally happening in only a few days, but as those inaugural guests excitedly cross the days off their calendars, there have already been a lucky few to sail on some 3-day sneak peek sailings.
Wouldn’t you know it, the stars aligned- including the ship’s Wishing Star chandelier and before I knew it, this humble writer was whisked away and standing in the Disney Wish’s Grand Hall (atrium), wand in hand, wishing upon a star…or chandelier (either way, it was all a little redundant…what left is there to wish for?).

Being greeted off the gangway by the ever-smiley crew and welcomed on board by name is a special touch Disney introduced decades ago. It’s nice it is still around. Even better were the Wish wands handed out moments before Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother appeared on the Grand Hall stage to instruct us on how to make our wishes.
The “bibbidy bobbidy boos” had nary left our lips before the pixie dust (or fibre optics, depending on how much magic you have in you) wrapped its way around the rich wood balustrades and across the three deck high ceiling to light up the wishing star, assuring us our wishes will come true.

Thank you to whomever wished Rapunzel and her Prince Charming would appear on the Juliet balcony above the stage, as that one was granted in seconds.
The Grand Hall is where most of the character interactions took place, and why wouldn’t they? The Hall is aptly named. Grand in design and size, the size is made possible by The Wish only having forward and aft elevators. The beauty? That’s allll the Imagineers.
These geniuses knew the stunning backdrop of double sweeping staircases or joining your favorite characters in front of the stage would only enhance your photos while ensuring the cavernous size of the Grand Hall would allow for multiple meet and greets for Mickey and pals or Disney Princesses to occur at once.

Once you’ve stepped into the Grand Hall, you may never want to leave- but there’s a whooooole big ship too explore. Watch this space for the next Disney Wish sneak peek!
